Meet Pax in La Ceiba airport and transfer to the Pico Bonito Lodge. On the way to the lodge, you will get a glance of the city of La Ceiba which is the third largest city in the country and has been officially proclaimed the "Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras". The lodge is nestled in 400 acres of tropical wilderness, between two roaring rivers with miles of private trails. You will tour the lodge’s Butterfly Farm and Serpentarium and will get a chance to explore its lush gardens and brilliant flora and fauna.
DAY 02: LA CEIBA
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then you will leave for a great nature adventure. You will have a choice between these tours. 1) An exceptional Whitewater Rafting experience between giant boulders, all in the warm waters of the Rio Cangrejal. Besides rafting, you will also enjoy whitewater swimming, playing in the river and jumping off rocks. 2) Waterfall Hike, this is an amazing hike through the rainforest of Pico Bonito National Park to the various falls in the area; you will enjoy jumping into crystal clear pools, shower under a pristine waterfall and a picnic surrounded by beautiful views. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the lodge’s grounds or even sign up for a 35-minute Guatusa massage for tired legs.
DAY 03: CAYOS COCHINOS
Enjoy a very early breakfast at the lodge and then transfer to Sambo Creek where you will take a boat for a 1-hour trip to the virgin white beaches of Cayos Cochinos. Coral reefs and pristine sandy beaches make up this archipelago of 13 cays – a “must see” on the Honduran North Coast. You might be able to see dolphins as they show up to accompany the boat! You will enjoy a tour of the cays and time for snorkeling while taking in the incredible tranquility of this marine biology reserve. You will savor a typical Garifuna style dish at Chachahuate Cay freshly caught fish, plantains and fried rice & beans prepared with coconut milk. You will then head back to the lodge for some R&R.
DAY 04: TELA
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and transfer to Tela for a day tour which includes a visit to the Lancetilla Botanical Garden, home to a diverse collection of national and exotic flora collected over the years from tropical areas all around the world. It was founded by the United Fruit Company and has served since as a research centre for the flora of the region. You will enjoy lunch in a beachfront palapa and swim in the warm waters of the Caribbean. We will go back to the lodge later in the afternoon.
DAY 05: LA CEIBA - ROATAN
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and transfer to La Ceiba airport to take a 30-minute flight to Roatan. The island is the largest and most developed of the Bay Islands, where you can enjoy one of the best dive sites in the Caribbean, in addition to the white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, rich marine life and sports activities. Upon arrival, you will be met by the hotel staff for transfer to the hotel. Remainder of evening at leisure to enjoy the warm waters of the Caribbean.
